This empowering cultural tour focuses on the resilient women of Zanzibar,
affectionately known as “The Mamas.” You will travel to rural villages to see how women-led
cooperatives are transforming local economies through sustainable handcrafts. This is an
intimate experience that goes beyond standard tourism, offering a window into the daily
lives, challenges, and triumphs of Zanzibari women.
You will participate in hands-on workshops, learning how to make seaweed soap, weave
mats from dried palm leaves, and create jewelry from recycled materials. The tour includes a
traditional lunch prepared by the Mamas, allowing for authentic conversation and cultural
exchange. By participating, you are directly supporting these women’s livelihoods, as a
portion of the tour fee goes back into their community projects
